The Bounty Hunter
Jeri Jacquin, Movie Maven
Opening this week in theatres from director Andy Tennant and Sony Pictures is couple in the middle of comedy with “The Bounty Hunter”.
This film tells the story of Milo (Gerard Butler); an ex-cop turned professional bounty hunter. One day he gets a call that would delight any guy – to bring in his reporter ex-wife Nicole (Jennifer Anniston), who has jumped bail.
But Nicole is working on a story about a murder cover-up and nothing – not even her ex is going to stop her. In the beginning Milo thought this would be an easy paycheck but it turns into something much more.
Milo has to be on his toes as Nicole is constantly trying to give him the slip. The one upsmanship is full on! That is until Milo realizes that someone is out to get them and now they are BOTH running for their lives.
Milo goes from bounty hunter to bounty helper!
FINAL WORD: Butler is charming as Milo but then what would you expect. As Milo he turns in a humorous performance that is pleasing. It’s getting harder to remember that stern Greek face from his day of playing Leonidas in “300”.
Anniston has always been descent at these comedic roles. There isn’t much left to surprise us with here but she has good timing with Butler. There are several moments that are funny as the couple tries to outwit each other.
This is a straight out fast paced romantic comedy that will appeal to a wide audience. These two actors bring a lot of comedy to the film in that they seem to be enjoying themselves and it shows.
Other cast includes: Gio Perez as Uncle Sam, Joel Garland as Dwight, Siobhan Fallon as Teresa, Adam Rose as Jimmy, Matt Malloy as Gary, Jason Koltourous as Gelman, and the ever funny Christine Baranski as Christie.
TUBS OF POPCORN: I give “The Bounty Hunter” three tubs of popcorn out of five. This is a fun date night film with two very popular actors. The guys will definitely go ga-ga over Anniston while the gals sigh over Butler. What better way to share a good night out!
In the end it’s a job, not personal – well, maybe a little. |
